Madeline & Dylan Engagements

Hooray! It is engagement season again! I LOVE shooting engagement sessions so much! It is such a great opportunity to get to know my clients, and figure out how they act with a camera pointed their direction.

Madeline and Dylan met up with me at Edgefield on a very gloomy overcast day. We didn't let the weather ruin the fun though! I had so much fun hanging out with them, and capturing some awesome moments. Thanks for being awesome you two!

Cherry Blossoms

Ellen contacted me about doing a portrait shoot of her, her husband, and their sweet wiener dog, Gaudi. She specifically wanted to do them at waterfront park while the cherry blossoms were blooming against the steel bridge. Heck yes! I was so excited to shoot with all the cherry blossoms! We picked a day, and crossed our fingers that it would not rain (you just never know here in Oregon).

The day finally came, and we were so lucky! Ellen paid so much attention to detail for her shoot. She even handmade her dress to match the blossoms!

Christy & Tyler's Wedding- Club Paesano, Cedarville Park, Gresham, Oregon

Back in February, I had the honor of photographing Christy & Tyler's wedding at Club Paesano, Cedarville park in Gresham, Oregon. I knew that it was going to be a super fun wedding to shoot after my first meeting with them, and especially after their fun engagement shoot at Canon Beach! They are so much fun, and are always having fun together. I got such a kick out of capturing all the laughter, and joy that everyone experienced on their special day.

Hannah & Dilly

My friend Hannah came over the other day and hung out with me for a bit. She brought her puppy Dilly along with her also! Dilly is such a sweet dog! It was so funny to see my babies Chloe and Ripley next to her though, she is so big!

Multnomah Falls In December

Steve and I made a trip up to Multnomah falls during a week when it was VERY cold and icy around Portland. It is rare to be able to get up there when it is cold enough for it to be frozen, but have the roads clear. Needless to say, it was a seriously breathtaking sight, and I am so happy that after 20-ish years of living in Oregon, I finally got to see it!

Also.. a very rare picture of Steve and I! It is not very often that I volunteer to step out from behind the lens, but I was brave this time, and I handed my camera to a random person to take this photo for me... I am glad that it turned out!

Kristen & Evan's Engagement session

Kristen & Evan also met me in Cannon Beach for their engagement session. They are from Nebraska and were in Oregon for thanksgiving to visit family. Kristen and I have been talking for a few month over email and it was fun to finally meet her and Evan in person! I enjoyed hanging out at the coast with you two, and finding fun places to take pictures! Have a great stay in Oregon, and a safe trip home!

I took an extra camera and Alison (my sister) took some photos too! The shot below is one of her shots!

Light Graffiti on the Dance Floor

This is a photo that I took at Nate an Jori's wedding, just before we left. I was taking a long exposure of the dance floor, then when I looked at the photo on the back of my camera I noticed a little stream of light moving around above the people on the dance floor. I looked up to try to figure out what it was, and I noticed one of the groomsmen dancing around with a little keychain LED light. I called him over and asked him to make some swirly designs in front of the camera for me. I had my fisheye lens on, and took a 30 second exposure. This is what I got.

NOTE: I love the walker on the side of the photo. I did not even notice that it was there at first, but I think it adds a lot of character the picture!

Jannette & Charlie at Camp Colton

Jannette was a bride of mine at good ole' Bridal Exclusives. When she came in to find her dress, we got along really well and I just knew that I had to be her photographer!! She soon contacted me and we made it official! Jannette and Charlie are such a joy to be around. Their families are also pretty AMAZING! Elisha and I felt so welcomed by everyone! Their wedding was at Camp Colton in Colton, Oregon. It was such a beautiful day full of fun memories, and some pretty awesome cultural traditions!

I just wanted to do a quick blog to show how AWESOME photo editing in Lightroom is! It never fails to amaze me, how you can take a an alright photo, and turn it into something that is AMAZING! Editing is a very important part of photography, and each photographer's style. the process takes time, but it is worth it! Through the editing process, it is possible to take a photo that looks like this......

Snowed in at Sunriver

Elisha and I Went to Sunriver this last weekend for a girl's trip. We woke up on Sunday morning to 5 inches of snow! So to avoid getting in a accident on our way over the pass, we hunkered down and stayed an extra night. We watched movies, and did puzzles all day long. This is a series of photos that I took of Elisha destroying one of our puzzles.

More photos to come of our adventures! We went cave exploring, or "spelunking" as Elisha likes to call it, we went sunset chasing, and mass amount of sitting in the hot tub!

Judee and Brad's Wedding

Judee and Brad were married on July 30th, 2009. That day was one of the rare Oregon days that was 105!! Despite the heat we had a ton of fun at their wedding. Judee did such an amazing job at paying attention to all the little details! They were married in Abigail's garden at the Abernethy Center in Oregon city, Oregon.

Judee and Brad! You are such an amazing couple! Beat wishes in your many years to come! Congrats!!

This was a very special and emotional moment that I was not in the room to capture. Judee was reading the letter that Brad wrote her before the ceremony. Thankfully my amazing second shooter Kristina Caught it while I was taking detail shots around the venue.

The reception was so much fun! Lots of Dancing!

Random Pretty Flower!

When we were walking back to our hotel from Jessica's in Hawaii, we walked through a park that had some gorgeous Hibiscus flowers. I have always loved this flower, but unfortunately, they are so hard to grow in Oregon. So I decided that if I took a photo of it, then it would last forever! Besides... I have a brown thumb anyways, I can never manage to keep anything alive! It would take a lot of talent to kill a photo of a flower anyways!

I have been slacking on my blog lately, but I am trying my best to get caught up-ish!

Call me crazy... Call me obsessed... Call me what you like. My dogs are my world! I do not have kids, so they keep me occupied, and they keep me company. If you are a new blog reader, or if you don't know me personally, meet my children! If you already know me (and my dogs) enjoy a little diddy about each of them! (because you love them too)

Chloe is a Pembroke welsh corgi, she is 3 years old, and she is the light of her mom's life. Chloe is a spunky sporty chick, and even though she throws a little 'tude my way every now and then, I still love her tons!

Ripley is an English springer spaniel, and he is 2 years old. We adopted Ripley when we moved into our house. He is his mom's little boy, and even though he may be a little tubby, he is still my best friend! Ripley Always has a lot to say...to everyone. We thought he cried a lot when we first brought him home... but we soon learned that he is just a chatterbox!

I recently bought some snazzy studio lights, so naturally, my dogs were my models!

My friend Hannah came over and I was showing her my lights. She took the next two photos. It sure is strange to be on the other side of the lens!

Destination Wedding Photography: Oahu, Hawaii

For some reason, I have been procrastinating on this post. Steve and I had an AWESOME time in Hawaii shooting Jessica & Billy's wedding. They were Married at Makapuu beach, Oahu, Hawaii. The day was beautiful, the sky was blue, and Jessica and Billy are married! Congratulations, you are a gorgeous couple, and you have a bright future ahead of you!

Their Reception was held in a restaurant called "Top of Waikiki" Similar to the Seattle, Space Needle, the restaurant rotated 360 degrees. For this last shot, I set my camera on a high tripod, and took a 60 second exposure.

Adam & Kathryn: Skamania Lodge, Stevenson Washington

Adam & Kathryn were married at Skamania Lodge, in Stevenson Washington. Although the day ended up to be a little rainy, everyone made the best of it and it ended up to be an AMAZING wedding! The Ceremony was outside overlooking the Columbia River Gorge. They had the Reception inside the ballroom complete with a mashed potato martini bar (AMAZING!), lots of great singing, and break dancing kids!

Jason and Katherine live in Alaska, but since they have family in Oregon, they decided that it would be the perfect place to tie the knot. They were married at the Aerie at Eagles Landing in Happy Valley Oregon. I second shot with EA studios for this wedding, and since it was so small and intimate, I ended up heading home before the Reception began. Although I was not there for the whole time, I was able to get some pretty sweet shots!

Wedding: Amy & Todd

Hooray for wedding season!! I second (or third) shot 3 weddings this week with Elisha and Andy of EA studios. I had so much fun hanging out with them, and soaking up all of their amazing knowledge! I LOVE shooting with them, but I am SUPER stoked for the weddings that I have booked this summer! I am so lucky that all of my couples are freakin AWESOME! It is going to be an amazing summer!

Amy and Todd live in Colorado, but Amy was raised in Vancouver Washington. They tied the knot at an absolutely gorgeous Catholic church in Vancouver. We started the day out at Amy's parents house where the girls got ready. Then we headed down to Officers row to take some bridal portraits. The Ceremony was at the chucrh, then we hurried down to the waterfront by Joe's Crab Shack (awesome crab, by the way) to catch the sunset. Our final destination was the reception held at Yard N Garden Land. Amy's family owns the business, so they decided it would be the prefect place to hold their wedding Reception. It was such a unique and fun idea to have the wedding in the greenhouse.

Canada Craziness

A while back, I went to Canada with Heather and Fredrick (Freather). We went up to Whistler, BC for the Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival. It was so much fun. There were a ton of adventures, including skiing, waterfalls, free shick razors (don't ask), and hanging out with cool foreigners. Here are some of my fave photos from the trip.

Memorial Day Beach Trip 2009

Every year all of the girls from Bridal Exclusives ( and a few others ) have a traditional Memorial Day beach trip. This year we went to Nedonna Beach, which is right by Rockaway Beach, Oregon. We had an amazing house for two nights. This year was so much fun! we had a bonfire, played Balderdash ( our favorite! ), finished a jigsaw puzzle, and had a white dress photo shoot on the beach. Amber had always wanted to have some photos of her in a little white linen dress on the beach, so she asked all of us to bring one also so we could do a full blown photo shoot. We got a ton of amazing photos, but here is one of each girl!

New life and Wisdom

I went to my Grandma's house yesterday because she wanted me to take some pictures of her rose bush and my grandpa's work area. While I was there I took some photos of there things that I found interesting. This is my favorite photo that I took. I feel like it shows a great contrast between wisdom and youth/new life. I know I am not a very deep thinker very often, but I do get it every so often. I also loved this photo because my grandma (meme) is so proud of her rosebush. She picked this one little rose and carried it around with her for a while.

I am using this photo for a class assignment. The assignment is to show spring in a black and white photo. It is harder than you may think, since spring is normally all about the bright colors and vibrance of the flowers.

I have a ton of blog posts coming up. I am just getting into editing photos from our beach trip, and Canada. I am aware that they are overdue, but I figure it is better late than never right?

Today we went out to the Rhododendron Gardens, right next to Reed College in Portland, Oregon. My hubby Steve wanted to learn how to use a DSLR camera, so we asked my sister Alison, and her boyfriend Aaron to be our guinea Pigs. We had a lot of fun, and we were lucky to have an awesomely beautiful afternoon.

Elisha taught me the other day how to get some sweet sun flair. Here is my best attempt, and my favorite photo of the day!

Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm

On Monday, Steve and I went to the wooden shoe Tulip farm in Woodburn, Oregon. I have always wanted to go, so we decided that it would be something fun to do together. I of course had my camera out the whole time taking photos. The fields are so beautiful when they are in full bloom.

Button Mag Street Style

I went out today with Alison Grise, the fashion Editor of Button mag. It is a Portland based magazine (www.buttonmag.com) . They are brand new and they gave me the opportunity to go out with them and do a street style, shoot. We walked around the streets of Portland, stopping random people with unique styles. We interviewed them, snapped a couple shots, and continued on our way. Here are a few of the sparkling gems that we found today!

I am so lucky to be surrounded by such an amazing group of girls at Bridal Exclusives. We had a party at Aubrielle's house to welcome the new girls, Madeline, Alyssa, and Korie. We played games, ate some serious amounts of food, and wrote a song about all the funny things about where we work. After a few of the girls left, I busted out my camera and we ( Me, Aubrielle, Amber, Madeline, Teddy and Kizzy) had a spur of the moment photo shoot. Here are a few of my favorites!

Josh and Christine Engagements

Christine is one of my brides at Bridal Exclusives. Since helping her find her dream wedding gown, her and I have become friends. We have a similar obsession with reality TV and love talking about our shows together. Christine and Josh are such an amazing couple! Spring Has Sprung

Yesterday I hung out with a friend that I met in my photography classes at MHCC (Kristina). We went on a mission to find something to photograph. We started our trek with an attempt to find Corbett. Due to my poor directions, we ended at Dodge park. We finally then got back on track and headed towards Corbett trying to get to Larch Mountain. Finally when we got to the road leading to Larch Mountain, there was a sign saying that it was closed due to snow. We finally turned around and headed back toward Mcmenamins Edgefield in Troutdale, which is right by both of our houses. We walked around Edgefield and took photos of all of the beautiful flowers, and random stuff there.

Jake & Hailey

On Friday I met up with Julie and her two adorable kids Jake and Hailey. We met at Lewisville park, in Battle Ground, Washington. That is where we have our annual family picnic. We hung out there for a couple hours and just had some fun and took a bunch of photos. Despite the unpredictable weather, I would say that it was a pretty awesome day. It is always great to be able to catch up with family!

I am so excited!!! I launched my very own photography website (www.RebeccaDryer.com)! I think that this will be a huge step in the right direction for me. I also started advertising on CraigsList Here is the ad that I posted on there.....comments? ...suggestions?

I am also trying to feature local musicians on my website, so if you know of anyone that may want to have a song on there then let me know!
I have already added one local musicians song. It is by The Battle of Land and Sea, the song is called Six Days. Check it out!

Sam & Laura's Wedding

I am so lucky to have friends that are photographers! Elisha and Andy (EA Photography Studios) gave me the opportunity to go with them to shoot a wedding. Sam & Laura were married in Boring, Oregon at Good Shepard Church. They prepared for their big day at the Hotel Vintage Plaza in downtown Portland, then we went to Union Station (also downtown Portland) to take some photos. We were so lucky to be blessed with such a BEAUTIFUL day in February! Sam & Laura are an amazingly beautiful couple and I wish them much Happiness in the many years to come!

Seattle Day Trip

On Friday I took a random trip to Seattle with Heather and Fredrick. We walked around downtown, ate at a Mediterranean place, checked out pikes market and gum alley. It was a beautiful day despite the crazy off and on rain showers. All in all it was a fun filled day of spontaneity and good times.

Today I woke up and there was a little snow on the ground. Great! I thought, not again! I didn't let it keep me inside for long though. I went to lunch at Edgefield with Steve, Alison, Aaron, Lindsey and Cameron. While we were there I took a few pictures...and a few when we got back to my house. Meet Lindsey's dog Edward!
